Review: 2016 Lexus GX460 Series


The Lexus GX460 is a mid-size luxury SUV with one capability the alternatives do not offer – namely, the ability to take it off-roading.

The GX460 features a soft ride, a powerful 301-horsepower V8 engine, and beautiful interior. It’s everything you’d expect, and some things you wouldn’t, from a traditional luxury SUV.

Safety Features

The 2016 GX460 has yet to be rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The car nevertheless features robust safety features and is definitely for the safety-conscious.

Standard safety features on the GX460 include four-wheel active traction control, Enform Safety Connect, 10 airbags, active front headrests, LED headlamps and taillamps, Smart Stop technology, a backup camera, tire-pressure monitor system, downhill assist control, and hill-start assist control.
Some optional features include a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, headlamp washers, and intuitive parking assist.


If off-roading capabilities just aren’t enough to keep you entertained, the GX460 also comes with a premium surround-sound audio system, subscription-free traffic and weather, Bluetooth audio technology, steering-wheel-mounted controls, and SiriusXM® satellite radio.
Entertainment-minded drivers might opt to add the Enform App Suite, voice command, Fuel Guide, and Sports and Stocks.

New Styling

With this seven-seater, drivers can choose from two different trim levels, either Base or Luxury. The Base model comes with a sunroof, automatic LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and premium vinyl upholstery.

As you can imagine, there are a variety of optional features for those who are more style-conscious. Some features include automatic wipers, LED fog lights, and perforated leather upholstery.
At the Luxury level, you get headlight washers, auto-dimming side mirrors, mahogany wood trim for the shifter and steering wheel, and upgraded leather upholstery.

New Technology

As with most Lexus cars, the GX460 comes loaded with all manner of technology. Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, Lexus Enform Service Connect, Premium Audio System, SmartAccess key fob, subscription-free traffic and weather, Bluetooth audio, steering-wheel-mounted controls, SiriusXM® satellite radio and the Enform Remote mobile app all come standard with the GX460.
